Executive

District 13 TBU + PSSP Executive

Article 5 of the District 13 Durham TBU Constitution dictates that the executive consists of the following members:

5.1.1.1    Voting Members as follows:

5.1.1.1.1       the President;
5.1.1.1.2       four Vice-Presidents;
5.1.1.1.3       the Secretary-Treasurer, or Secretary and Treasurer;
5.1.1.1.4       the Additional TBU Provincial Councillor(s);
5.1.1.1.5       the Leads of TBU Standing Committees;
5.1.1.1.6       Leads of TBU Standing Committees also serve as Leads that correlate within their respective Standing Committees; and
5.1.1.1.7       the Anti-Oppression and Social Justice Lead.

5.1.1.2     Non-voting Members as follows:
5.1.1.2.1       the TBU Representatives; and
5.1.1.2.2       the TBU Negotiator.

Duties of the District 13 TBU + PSSP Executive

Bylaw 1 of the District 13 Durham TBU Constitution outlines the duties of the TBU Executive as follows:

It shall be the duty of the District 13 TBU Executive:

1.1 to promote within the TBU the objects of the Provincial OSSTF Articles of Amendment, Bylaw One, Constitution & Regulations;
1.2 to meet at the call of the TBU President or at the written request of two or more Members of the TBU Executive;
1.3 to make arrangements for meetings of the TBU Executive;
1.4 to report to the TBU Members at the Annual General Meeting, where appropriate;
1.5 to give full consideration to any recommendation from the TBU Council;
1.6 to carry out instructions from the TBU as directed at the Annual General Meeting;
1.7 to instruct the TBU President, Additional TBU Provincial Councillor(s) and Delegates to AMPA on matters to come before the Provincial Council and AMPA;
1.8 to deal with matters which, in its opinion, require action between meetings of the TBU Membership and TBU Council;
1.9 to keep the TBU Members informed of its activities, where appropriate;
1.10 to appoint a successor to complete the unexpired term of anyone elected or appointed solely to the TBU Executive, provided that the unexpired term is less than sixty (60) calendar days;
1.11 to authorize payment of expenses and accounts incurred in the conduct of approved business of the TBU;
1.12 to inform the District Executive of any professional misconduct within the TBU;
1.13 to ensure that the District 13 Anti-Harassment and Anti-Bullying Policy and Procedure is followed at all TBU workplaces, meetings and functions;
1.14 to appoint a TBU Negotiator;
1.15 to ensure the appointment or election of a Branch President to represent OSSTF at each school in accordance with the duties of a Branch President;
1.16 to elect a substitute to replace the TBU President or TBU Negotiator at Provincial Council and/or Negotiators Meetings;
1.17 to elect a substitute to replace the TBU President or TBU Additional TBU Provincial Councillor(s) at Provincial Council Meetings;
1.18 to decide to leave a TBU Executive position vacant unless the position is that of TBU President which must be filled;
1.19 to appoint AMPA delegates to replace or fill vacant positions after elections at the Annual General Meeting;
1.20 to arrange for the appointment or election of the Leads of Standing Committees.
1.21 to receive, amend as necessary, and approve the TBU budget; and
1.22 to appoint or arrange the election of the Steering Lead for the Annual General Meeting.

Meeting Dates

TBU & PSSP Executive Meetings usually take place one afternoon per month at 4:15 p.m followed by TBU & PSSP Council at 7:00 p.m or 6:30 p.m. as scheduled.

Executive members also attend ad hoc Extended Council and additional Executive meetings on an as-needed basis.

TBU & PSSP Executive Meeting dates for 2025-2026: Sept. 18-19 (Planning Session), October 28, December 16, January 27, February 24, March 31, May 26, June 23.
