TBU Grievance Appeals Committee
Mandate
The purpose of the TBU Grievance Appeals Committee is to hear requests from members to reconsider decisions pertaining to grievances made by the TBU Grievance Committee.
Meetings and Responsibilities
As outlined in Section 11.8 - 11.10 of the TBU Constitution, the TBU Grievance Appeals Committee operates according to the following parameters:
11.8.2 The members of the TBU Grievance Appeals Committee shall select one (1) of their members to chair the meeting.
11.8.3 A quorum for the TBU Grievance Appeals Committee shall be three (3) members and the decision in this case shall be unanimous.
11.9.1 The TBU member asking for an appeal of the decision of the TBU Grievance Committee will be invited to attend a meeting of the TBU Grievance Appeals Committee to present the case.
11.9.2 The TBU member appealing the decision will have an opportunity to present the case with the assistance of an advisor who is a member of the TBU but is not a member of the TBU Grievance Committee or the TBU Grievance Appeals Committee.
11.9.3 The TBU Grievance Committee Lead will state the reasons for not carrying forward the grievance.
11.9.4 The TBU member appealing the ruling of the TBU Grievance Committee will have an opportunity to respond to the presentation of the Lead of the TBU Grievance Committee.
11.9.5 The TBU Grievance Appeals Committee will consider the appeal in camera after both parties have been excused and will communicate its decision to the TBU member, the TBU Grievance Officer and the TBU Executive as soon as possible.
11.10 The TBU Grievance Appeals Committee will also serve as an Appeals Committee for the Anti-Bullying and Anti-Harassment Policy.

The committee consists of five TBU Executive members who are not serving on the TBU Grievance Committee (Section 11.8.1, TBU Constitution):
